Solution Title: Overview of OIN License Agreement

Abstract: Open Invention Network, an intellectual property company formed by IBM, Novell, Philips, Red Hat and Sony, promotes the Linux environment by using patents to create a collaborative ecosystem.

OIN's mission is to acquire patents to be used for cross-licensing purposes to defend the Linux environment, as well as make them available to support Linux by licensing them on a royalty-free basis.

Elements of the OIN Patent License include the following:

- OIN grants patent license to licensee for all OIN patents and applications for all products;

- Licensee grants patent license to OIN for all licensee patents and applications for the Linux environment; and

- Licensee grants license to other current and future licensees for all licensee patents and applications for the Linux environment.
